Data Deletion Request

What data GC Prep stores

• Account profile (email address, display name)
• Authentication records (sign-in method, session tokens)
• Quiz session history (scores, progress, saved position)
• Purchase entitlement records (which modules you have access to)
• Active study time logs (time spent per section and module)
• Completion certificates (earned at 8 hours of active study)
• Honor Roll badges and leaderboard entries
• If you enroll in a state-reported course: your legal name, mailing address, date of birth, and — if you supply one — your Virginia DMV control number. These are collected at certificate claim because the state requires them on the completion record.

How to request deletion

To delete your GC Prep account and associated data, follow these steps:

1. Sign in and open gcprep.app/account-data (from your profile, Account & Data)
2. Under Danger Zone, click Delete My Account
3. Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears

Alternatively, you may email us directly at support@gcprep.app with your account email address in the subject line. We will process your deletion request and confirm completion within 30 days.

What happens, and over what period

• 7-day grace period. Requesting deletion starts a 7-day soft delete, during which you may reactivate.
• Then 30 days. After the 7 days, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.
• Organizational seat records are kept up to 12 months after a seat expires for compliance audit purposes, then automatically purged.

What is kept after deletion

Deleting your account does not reach everything, and we would rather you knew that here than discover it later.

• Records held for a licensing authority. Course completion and continuing-education records that a state licensing board requires us to keep are kept for as long as that board’s rules require, even after your account is deleted. Your certificates are not: deleting your account deletes them.
• Virginia prelicense education. 18VAC50-22-310 B requires an approved provider to keep each student’s record — name and address, Virginia DMV control number, the course name and clock hours attended, the instructor, and the date of successful completion — for a minimum of five years from the date you complete the course. We cannot shorten that period, and we cannot remove your name from those records during it, because the regulation requires the record to identify the student.
• North Carolina continuing education, if we later offer it: 21 NCAC 12B .0206(a) sets a four-year period on the same basis.
• Records of a completed purchase, where we are required to retain them for legal or business purposes.

Deleting your account removes your personal data as described above; it does not reach these specific records until their period ends. The full statement is in our Privacy Policy, section 5.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

• Reset your GC Points yourself at gcprep.app/account-data: it deletes your points balance, points history, achievements and Honor Roll entries, and keeps everything else.
• Email support@gcprep.app to delete your streak records. We complete this within 30 days.
• Update or remove your backup email and phone number on the Security page. To remove one, clear the box and press Save.
